Press Officer, Co-Producer and more, Edinburgh Fringe Festival shows

Friendly Creatives’ Ian Kennedy has represented and promoted three plays at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with a variety of responsibilities…

Ian’s press releases and promotional website for his 2003 Edinburgh Fringe Festival play Haze secured the show pleasing reviews in The Scotsman (11/8/03) and Fest (12/8/03), as well as a topical appearance on comedy forum Chortle and an extended feature in the The Nottingham Evening Post (14/3/03) introducing its Nottingham run. Ian also produced further publicity materials including programmes and co-produced the show’s posters and flyers. Ian was co-writer and co-producer of the show, which employed innovative staging and set design to enable unexpected entrances and exits for characters through all parts of the set including a sofa, window and cupboard. Ian was also Press Officer for New Matrix Productions’ award-winning adaptation of Dario Fo’s Mistero Buffo at the 2004 Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Paradise Green Promotions’ Best Show and Best Director awards), with his press release and media liaising securing a favourable review in Three Weeks.

He was also Press Officer for Can’t Pay? Won’t Pay! (also by Dario Fo, and which Ian adapted specially for the age of chavs and asbos) in 2006, in which he also appeared as an ensemble of roles. Ian was interviewed about the show live on BBC Asian Network by Nikki Bedi.

Ian also provided guidance to the Director and actors of all three shows.
