  • The Producers’ Forum, influential organisation supporting filmmakers and other producers with events, talks, networking, guest speakers, and practical initiatives. Since 2007. Ian has also worked as the Forum’s Communications & Member Services Officer – click here to see more.
  • West Midlands Screenwriters’ Forum, body for screenwriters who have been professionally commissioned, providing monthly sessions with guest speakers, and other events,  and partnerships. Since 2009.
  • Shooting People, the world’s biggest network of independent filmmakers. Since 2008.
  • BBC West Midlands Local Advisory Council. Body which provided official feedback and input into BBC services in the region and nationally. Changes to BBC accountability structures brought the LACs to an end in 2006. 2004-6.

Short Commissions

  • Ian was hired by the BBC to produce a ‘Vox populi’ for BBC stations including Five Live (exploring supercasinos, 2004) and to compile news clips for the Breakfast Show for BBC Radio Nottingham on a daily basis in 2003.
  • Ian was also employed as a Sound Recordist by The University of Birmingham Media Centre in 2011 for a pair of promotional videos for prospective students in the Arab world.


  • Maverick TV – Working on Channel 4 series Ten Years Younger. 2006.
  • Radio 1 – Scott Mills: producing ‘Celebrity Calls’ feature, researching ‘Fact Hunt’ feature,  producing short radio packages and more. Also research for Jo Whiley, working with Newsbeat, and attending and contributing to a Playlisting meeting. 2004.
  • BBC WM – Adrian Goldberg Breakfast Show, Ed Doolan Programme, and more. Ian’s time at BBC WM also resulted in this amusing appearance live on air, when rescuing an insect from the studio earned him the, er, affections of an elderly listener.
